The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Raykov, DSc conferred the highest award of MU-Varna – the “Blue Ribbon Badge of Honour" at a solemn ceremony, held on 21 May, at First Auditorium of the University. On the eve of 24 May, the awards have been conferred for the twentieth time on the most prominent personalities and teams for their merits and achievements in the field of science and higher education and for enhancing the prestige of MU-Varna.
This year the prestigious award was conferred on:
Prof. Dr. Rosen Madzhov, DSc – for outstanding merits for enhancing the prestige of MU-Varna in his position as Vice–Rector for Science and Research; for active long-standing scientific and teaching activities; for contributions to the development of the diagnostic and therapeutic process at UMHAT “St. Marina"–Varna. Prof. Madzhov was Vice–Rector for Science and Research (2004-2012); Head of the Department of Surgical Diseases (2012-2024); Head of Second Surgery Clinic (2004-2023).
Prof. Dr. Boyan Balev, PhD –for active long-standing scientific and teaching activities in the field of Diagnostic Imaging; for outstanding contributions to the development of the diagnostic and therapeutic process at UMHAT “St. Marina"–Varna. Prof. Balev was Head of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Radiotherapy (2004-2020); Head of the Diagnostic Imaging Centre, Department of Radiology (2003-2020).
Prof. Dr. Kiril Hristozov, PhD – for long-standing scientific and teaching activities in the field of Endocrinology; for outstanding contributions to the development of the diagnostic and therapeutic process at UMHAT “St. Marina"–Varna. Prof. Hristozov was Head of Training Sector Endocrinology and Metabolism Diseases (2004-2024); Head of the Clinic of Endocrinology at UMHAT “St. Marina"–Varna (2004-2023).
Prof. Dr. Bistra Kalcheva, PhD – for enhancing the prestige of MU-Varna in the research and project activities; for significant contributions to the educational and expertise activities; for merits to the development of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
Prof. Kalcheva was Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (2012-2014); Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology (2014-2018); Chairperson of the Research Ethics Committee (2012-2024).
Prof. Dr. Vera Krumova, PhD – for outstanding merits to MU-Varna and high professionalism, responsibility and dedication; for contributions to the methodological guidance for development of the Department of Orthodontics at the Faculty of Dental Medicine; for laying the foundations of training in the field of Orthodontics; for the growth of the academic staff of the Department of Orthodontics.
MU-Varna also conferred a team award to the staff of the Library of Medical University-Varna. The award was presented for enhancing the prestige of MU-Varna in providing high-quality education; for supporting the educational activities through applying modern library and information resources; for creating an institutional repository with open access; for establishing a University platform with a digital collection.
