Prof. Dr. Violeta Iotova reported on the activities of the University Hospital "St. Marina"-Varna at the annual meeting of the European Reference Endocrine Networks


The Head of the Centre of Expertise for Rare Endocrine Diseases at the University Hospital "St. Marina" - Varna Prof. Dr. Violeta Iotova presented the development and progress in the activities so far of the scientific-applied project Endo-ERN (EU4Health), part of the large-scale European project ERNs. This took place during the annual meeting of Endo-ERN, which was held on 8 and 9 May in Copenhagen, Denmark. Prof. Yotova is co-chair of the Education and Training Working Group of the European Reference Network on Rare Endocrine Diseases and leader of Work Package 6 "Education and Training". In 2023. The University Hospital of Varna "St. Marina” was selected by the European Commission to take the lead in the responsible mission to plan and provide education for medical professionals, patients and the public in the field of rare endocrine diseases. This happened after a precise assessment of resources - highly qualified and experienced physicians working in multidisciplinary teams, availability of modern equipment and communications.

 



​European Reference Networks (ERNs) are virtual networks involving reference centres across Europe. They aim to tackle complex or rare diseases and conditions that require highly specialised treatment and concentrated knowledge and resources.
A total of 7 scientists from MU-Varna and specialists at “St. Marina" - Varna participated in the first joint congress of the European Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and the European Society of Endocrinology, which was held immediately after the annual meeting of Endo-ERN Copenhagen.
