Medical University – Plovdiv hosted a working meeting of the Rectors of the four medical universities in our country on 10 June.
In a spirit of friendship and understanding, the representatives of the academic management – Acad. Prof. Dr. Lachezar Traykov, DSc, Rector of MU — Sofia, Prof. Dr. Valentin Ignatov, PhD, Rector of MU – Varna, Prof. Dr. Dobromir Dimitrov, PhD, Rector of MU – Pleven and Prof. Dr. Mariana Murdzheva, PhD, Rector of MU – Plovdiv, discussed major issues concerning education and universities.
The Rectors got united around the idea that there is equality, mutual respect and trust among them. They expressed willingness to work together through setting up an organisation, aimed at introducing the specific interests of these higher schools to the institutions and providing assistance in the decision-making process, in the light of the academic demands of the medical universities.
The issues related to the establishment of working groups for introducing changes in the Uniform State Requirements (USRs) for the specialties at the Medical Universities were also discussed at the meeting. Prof. Ani Belcheva – Vice Rector of Educational Activities at MU – Plovdiv, shared the experience of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and focused the attention on the challenges confronting the universities during the times of changes.
The demand for preparation and coordination of the joint curricula related to the Bachelor, Master and Post-Graduate Programmes among the medical universities was emphasised during the discussions.
The guests visited the spacious Auditorium Complex, the Medical Simulation Training Centre and the Research Complex for Translational Neuroscience at MU – Plovdiv.
The working meeting of the Rectors of the Medical Universities was a manifestation of the beneficial partnership and academic spirit in the name of the future progress of universities and education in Bulgaria.
