On the eve of 24 May, the Head of the Virology Laboratory at UMHAT "St. Marina" – Varna Prof. Dr. Temenuga Stoeva was awarded the individual Varna Award in the category of Natural Sciences. This high award was conferred to Prof. Stoeva for her outstanding contribution to the establishment and logistics, achieved under emergency circumstances, of the first high-tech PCR Laboratory in Eastern Bulgaria, based on the territory of UMHAT "St. Marina" – Varna.
For yet another year Varna Municipality has highly evaluated the outstanding professionalism of a medical specialist from the largest hospital in Eastern Bulgaria. The elite University Hospital "St. Marina" – Varna is a springboard for healthcare professionals. There are 518 doctors working here – leading scientists and experts in various fields of medical science, of whom - 31 professors, 59 associate professors, 41 chief assistant professors, 200 assistant professors and 674 health care professionals. The total number of employees is 1984. The average age of doctors is 42 years, and for healthcare professionals – 45 years. 102 medical doctors, 138 health care specialists and 114 health assistants have been recruited at the hospital over the past two years. The hospital is the largest training facility for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students at Medical University – Varna, and a leading medical institution for patients not only from Varna, but also from all over Eastern Bulgaria.
