The crew of "Hygeia" Sailing Yacht of Medical University – Varna won bronze medals in the IRC1 class at the 2026 National Keelboat Championship. The competition was held from 24 to 27 September in Nessebar and in the waters of the Gulf of Burgas.
The event was organised by the Bulgarian Sailing Federation. On the first day of the competition, a short offshore race took place, starting near Nessebar, circling the entrance buoy of Pomorie Harbour and finishing at the entrance lighthouse of Nessebar Harbour.
The second day was marked by challenging weather conditions – rain, heavy swell and gusts of wind exceeding 30 knots. Due to the unfavourable conditions, the races scheduled for the day were cancelled.
On the final day of the competition, the crew of "Hygeia" took part in three "windward–leeward" races, again in strong and gusty winds. In the final standings, the yacht took third place in the IRC1 class.
