The New Rector of MU-Varna Prof. Dr. Dimitar Raykov Presented His Rector Team for 2024-2028 Term of Office

After the General Assembly of MU-Varna elected Prof. Dr. Dimitar Raykov as Rector of the University, at a meeting on 11th March, the new Academic Council unanimously adopted the composition of the Vice-Rectors proposed by Prof. Raykov. His team will be composed of five Vice-Rectors for a term of office from 11 March 2024 to 11 March 2028.

Prof. Dr. Albena Kerekovska, PhD was elected Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs. She has performed this function so far, and will continue to manage, supervise, coordinate and be responsible for the planning and organisation of all activities related to the academic affairs, including the admission and training of students and trainees at the Professional Education Centre (PEC) and the International Centre for e-Learning and Distance Learning (ICEDL), as well as the Academic Affairs Directorate and the activities of the Student Affairs Office.

​Prof. Dr. Mariya Negreva, DSc was elected Vice-Rector for Career Development. She will manage, supervise, coordinate and be responsible for the planning and organisation of all activities related to career development, the acquisition of ESD “Doctor of Philosophy" (PhD), SD “Doctor of Sciences" (DSc), and the activities of the Departments of Career Development and Doctoral School.

Prof. Dr. Violeta Yotova, DSc was elected Vice-Rector for Science and Research. She will manage, supervise, coordinate and be responsible for the planning and organisation of all activities related to scientific research, innovation and translational medicine at Medical University-Varna, the activities of the Library, and the Publishing and the Academic Clinical Research Organisation Departments. The functions of Prof. Yotova will also comprise controlling the activities of the Research Institute.

Prof. Dr. Mario Milkov, PhD was elected Vice-Rector for International Cooperation. He will manage, supervise, coordinate and be responsible for the planning and organisation of all activities related to international cooperation and the activities of the Department of International Cooperation. He will also control and coordinate the activities of the Directorate for Accreditation, Quality and Project Activities and the Departments “Quality Management and Accreditation" and “Project Activities".

Prof. Dr. Nikola Kolev, DSc was elected Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Studies. He will manage, supervise, coordinate and be responsible for the planning and organisation of all activities related to postgraduate studies, the activities of the Department of Postgraduate Studies and the conclusion of contracts with medical institutions for practical and postgraduate studies.

At the meeting, the Academic Council made a decision to rename the International Cooperation, Accreditation and Quality Directorate into Directorate for Accreditation, Quality and Project Activities. Prof. Todorka Kostadinova, PhD was elected Director of the Directorate.
