Medical Universities in Varna, Sofia, Plovdiv and Pleven Have United in a Common Association

Association of Medical Universities in the Republic of Bulgaria was established by the Rectors of the medical universities in Varna, Sofia, Plovdiv and Pleven on 6 October 2021. The underlying motive for its establishment is ensuring and maintaining the high quality of higher medical education and development of the medical science in the country. Among the main objectives of the Association are the protection of the general interests of the medical institutions in front of the state and local authorities, participation in the processes of forming state policies in the field of medical education and related activities in the field of health, and promotion of the prestige of our higher medical education abroad. The Association will serve as a guarantor for quality assurance of the higher medical education in Bulgaria.

Through the Association, the Rectors of the four prestigious Bulgarian medical universities will be able to express opinions and views on the general interests of medical education in the country, will develop strategic documents, plans and concepts, will participate in working groups and advisory councils in cooperation  with  state authorities in connection with the development of laws and regulations governing the training in Medicine, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy and Public Health and related activities in the field of health.

Meetings, round tables and seminars will be held on topics related to the objectives of the Association, organisation of working groups, expert councils and other support bodies to form and propose solutions to specific problems related to higher medical education. The Association also provides for the issuance of periodic newsletters and other materials to familiarise the public with the decisions made, the concepts and the strategic documents developed.

The Association will unite the efforts of medical universities to enhance the quality of higher medical education and health in the Republic of Bulgaria.
